Obituary

Services for John Robert Farrand Sr., of Ringwood, will be held 1:30 pm., Thursday, January 5th, 2012, at the Ringwood First Baptist Church. Paster Brian Frable will officiate. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. that evening.

John was born in Chester, Oklahoma, on February 21 1942 to Marie and Orville Farrand and passed away January 1, 2012 in Enid, Oklahoma.

John attended school at Fairview, graduating from Fairview High School in 1959. Following graduation he worked for Hallrens Produce and then for Norman Dow. John later drove a truck hauling milk for Gold Spot. He then entered the oilfield where he continued to work until he retired in 2002 from Luckinbill. For a short time he left the oilfield and joined the Army in 1963 and was stationed in Virginia. While there he met his wife Shirley Burriss and was blessed with four children. After being honorably discharged from the Army they moved back to Fairview and in 1975 moved to Ringwood. On June 28, 2000 John married Diane Katzenberger and once again his family grew, with four stepchildren and 2 children of the marriage. John loved to fish, hunt and work on any kind of motor that he could find. He also enjoyed watching westerns on television John loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Diane of the home; sons, Mike Farrand and wife Tracy of Ringwood, OK, Michael Farrand also of Ringwood, and three step-sons; Jeff Saltzman, Mark Richter and Paul Richter all of Ringwood; daughters Debbie Junkins and husband Dennis of Taloga, Ok, Tina Hamm and husband Dale of Ringwood, OK, Jasmine Farrand of Ringwood, Ok.and one step-daughter Nicole Sather of Sioux City, IA, three brothers; Archie Farrand , Gene Farrand and Everett Farrand, and one sister Carol Ann Guffey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Butch Farrand and a sister Mary Jane Hammans
Memorials may be made to the Jayla Alexis Tuck Cancer Foundation with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodians.
