Joshua Bun Thompson

A memorial services for Joshua Thompson, will be held Monday, September 14, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Center Fellowship in Meno, Oklahoma, with Pastor Cody Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow at Auburn Cemetery in Lambert, OK.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Josh, 45, passed away on September 8th after a courageous battle with cancer.  His journey began with esophageal cancer and later progressed to bone cancer.  Through everything he faced, he showed a kind of strength that is difficult  to put into words.  Josh was a huge fighter in every sense of the word.  Life threw more at him than most people should ever have to endure, yet time and time again, he found strength, with God alongside him, to overcome anything thrown his way.  Even though his hardest day, his love for his family and devotion to God never strayed.

He was the kind of person you didn't simply meet and forget.  Once he came into your life, he left a mark.  He was incredibly caring, had a huge heart for God, and loved his family beyond measure.  Music was one of Josh's greatest passions.  He loved making cigar box guitars and putting creativity and love of music into something he could build with his own hands.  He also loved the simple things in life: the country lifestyle, being outdoors, and especially going fishing.

Josh's life could not be measured by the cancer he fought, but by the people he loved, the memories he created, the music he made, and the amazing strength he showed when life became unimaginably difficult.

He fought hard and loved deeply.  Through everything, he was a caring husband, father, Papa, son, brother, and unforgettable friend.  His strength will continue to live on in the family he loved.  His memory will be carried in every song, every fishing trip, and every story told about the man who was impossible to forget. 

Josh may have lost his battle to cancer, but the cancer will never take away the life he lived, the love he gave, or the legacy he left behind.

Josh is survived by his wife, Amy Thompson; his children, Paige Metheny, Ethan Thompson and his wife, McKenna, and Logan Thompson, and his grandchildren, Weston and Mason Eastman, and Hudson Metheny.  He is also survived by his parents, Steve and Kirsten Thopmson; his brother Jared Thompson, and his wife, Becky; his nieces and nephews, Kolton, Kadence, and Jaxton Thompson; his grandmother, Marilyn Goodwin of Cherokee, Oklahoma; as well as other family members and loved ones in Fairview, Oklahoma and the surrounding communities.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kirk Goodwin of Cherokee, Oklahoma; his grandparents, Ray and Laura Thompson of Fairview, Oklahoma; and his uncle, Klay Goodwin of Cherokee, Oklahoma.  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks thst memorial contributions be made the the Fairview Funeral Home.
