Graveside Services for Joyce Yvonne Blair, 84 of Fairview, will be 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at the Bierig Family Cemetery, Okeene, Oklahoma. Joyce died in her sleep at her home on August 7, 2014 in Phoenix, AZ. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Joyce Yvonne Blair, daughter of the late Floyd Blair & Martha (Bierig) Blair, was born January 25, 1930 in Isabella, OK. She attended Fairview High School. She graduated from Northern Illinois University and earned an Elementary Teaching Credential. She worked several years as a teacher in Sterling, Illinois. Joyce also received her Real Estate License and sold homes in her local area. At the age of 50, she attended Nursing School and became an LPN. She worked 10 years in the State of Oklahoma Rehabilitation Hospital in Norman, OK. She retired in 1993.
Joyce enjoyed quilting as a hobby until her late 70's. She made quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. Her belief in God sustained her through periods of sorrow and disappointments, as well as times of joyfulness.
Joyce married Lloyd Wiggins in 1948. They had three sons, Dewayne, Roger and Steve. She married Winston Slick of Illinois in 1965. They had two children, Linda & David.
Those who preceded Joyce in death were her parents, Floyd and Martha Blair; Brothers, Joe and Jay ; Sister: June and infant sibling: Carol.
Those left to cherish her memory: children: Dewayne Wiggins and wife Susan of St. Louis MO, Roger Wiggins and wife Gerry of Forest Lake, MN, Steve Wiggins and wife Veronica of College Station, TX., Linda Devore and husband Kirby of Phoenix, AZ, David Slick and wife Jun of Portland, OR. Grandchildren: Isaac Wiggins, Spencer Wiggins, Ben Wiggins, Katherine Wiggins, David Wiggins, Amanda Pickens, Paige Wiggins, David Devore, Nathan Devore, Emma Devour, Makayla Slick, Scarlett Slick, Shlagha Mysorekar 1 great granddaughter Paige Wiggins and 1 great grandson due in September, a sister-in-law: Sherry Blair, as well as many family members and friends.
