Obituary

A memorial service for Judith Ann Roquemore will be held on April 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Cleo Springs Baptist Church.  Internment will follow at the Aline Star Cemetery.  Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Judith Ann Roquemore was born in Enid, Oklahoma on August 9, 1944.  Her proud parents were Edgar and Mabel (Anthony) Smith.  The family resided in Enid and Cleo Springs, until moving to El Paso, TX in 1954.  The family were members of the Midway Baptist Church in Ysleta, where Judy met a striking young soldier, Wilmer (Rocky) Roquemore one Sunday in 1960 during the church service.  The two were married on Sept. 29, 1961, prior to Rocky's deployment to France.

As a military spouse, Judy supported Rocky's 21-year military career and raised the couple's 3 sons, Gerald, Ronald and Michael. During this time, the family was transferred to Ft. Meade, MD and Ft. Campbell, KY, before finally settling back in Cleo Springs, in 1978, upon Rocky's retirement.  Her and Rocky adopted their 4th son, Matthew in 1994.

Judy was employed in a variety of positions during her life, including picture framer, beauty consultant, accountant, church secretary / treasurer and Major Co. Police Dispatcher.  However, her favorite position was that of a clown.   Judy and Rocky traveled to Indian reservations in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma setting up Bible School classes.  She started out organizing craft activities that were focused on giving back, or missions.  Then she began working in the clown ministry, bringing joy and laughter to those around her.  Judy had a servant's heart and shared this throughout her life.

In her younger years, she was a member of the Southern Baptist Girl's Auxiliary, attaining the Queen with Scepter level of achievement.  This group was involved with the study of the bible and mission work.  She was a member of the choir and a very good student, excelling in Math.

Judy passed to her eternal home on March 24, 2021.  She is preceded in death by her father Edgar Ellis Smith, her mother Mabel Della Smith and her husband Wilmer Innis Roquemore.  She is survived by her sisters Cathy Gifford of Fairview, OK, Edna Barnwell and her husband Danny, of Newcastle, OK and her brother Edgar Duane Smith and his wife Jill of Oregon; her son Jerry Roquemore and his wife Julia of Richmond, VA, Ron Roquemore and his wife, Valerie of Oklahoma City; Michael Roquemore and his wife Lynette of Kettering, OH; and Matthew Roquemore of Woodward, OK.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
