F uneral service for Kay Davis, 84, of Fairview, will be 2:00 pm, Friday, February 1, 2019, at the Fairview First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 11:00 am at the Davis family cemetery, prior to the funeral.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Kay was born Kay M. Moore on June 13, 1934, to Alan Edward Moore and Catherine Anne Rucker Moore at the town of Rosalyn, in Arlington County, in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  She had a chaotic upbringing along with her 2 sisters and 3 brothers, and lived in various places in Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, and Washington DC.  The childhood memories that she spoke of most often were in Fishing Creek, Maryland, on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay.  Her grandmother lived next to Arlington National Cemetery, and Kay would often walk with her through the cemetery to attend church at the chapel there.  A lot of the good manners that were her hallmark in later life were taught by her grandmother.

She met a handsome man who often came into restaurant where she worked, who was so oblivious to her charms that she was forced to drop an earring in his soup to get him to look up from his newspaper at lunch.  Once McWilliam Davis turned his attention to important matters, things progressed rapidly, and his two daughters, Assunta Maria and Sylvia Maria, were joined by another daughter, Tanya Marie.  Shortly after that, Mac sold his half of his company to his partner, and they moved to Fairview, OK, where they had a son, Jesse Kay.

Being a farmer's wife in Oklahoma was a challenge that she rose to, and she raised children, cooked, entertained many guests, was active in many civic organizations, and made friends beyond number.  Her life was not without difficult challenges, she dealt with pain and adversities, and triumphed over alcoholism along with Mac.  They were both strong leaders in the local AA group, and parties at their home were attended by a wild variety of colorful characters.

After her kids were grown, she looked for new challenges and became a writer for the local newspaper, the Fairview Republican.  She wrote hundreds of articles, interviewed numerous local people, and wrote insightful editorial columns.

Her grandchildren, Elijah Kennedy, Nicole Davis, Angie (Davis) Rincon, Kelsey (Kennedy) Johnson and Rebecca Davis, as well as "virtual grandchildren", Kendra Moore, Brooklyn Robinett, Kodee Robinett, Lacey Glover, were the joy of her life, and she was the perfect Meemaw, taking them to a nonstop string of plays, museums, events, and parties, along with all of their closest friends.  Eli's sons, Titan and Tyson, joined the party late, but still got to experience the fun and love of someone who truly loved and enjoyed life.

Mac's death in 1997 was a blow for everyone in the family, and Kay's strength carried the family through that difficult time.

She married Bob Davis in 2004, and they enjoyed travels and adventures together until his death in 2008.

Kay was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2011, and her life changed dramatically.  She fought the disease tooth and nail, moved to Enid to live with Tanya, and continued to enjoy life as fully as possible with the help of wonderful friends like Pam Lenker, Barbara Adkins, Michelle Gregg and Denise Martin.

She passed from this life to a better one on January 28, 2019, and is once again dancing with Mac.

Memorials may be made to the Valley Hope Treatment Center with the Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
