Funeral Services for Kenneth Eugene Davis, age 75, will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2010 at the Fairview First United Methodist Church. The Reverend Rich Redinger will officiate. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Kenneth Eugene Davis was born December 9, 1934 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Dawson M. and Naomi Katherine Davis and passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 16, 2010.
Kenneth Eugene Davis grew up in Fairview and graduated from Fairview High School in 1952. He attended the University of Oklahoma from 1952 to 1956. As a freshman he played guard as a walk-on for the O.U. Football team. He attended the University of Tulsa from 1960 to 1961 and the University Of Tulsa School Of Law from 1962 to 1966. Kenneth was conferred a Bachelor of Laws Degree in June of 1966. He served in the U.S. Air Force ROTC from 1952 to 1954, served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1955 to 1957 when he was Honorably Discharged to enter Aviation Cadet Training. Kenneth served in the U.S. Air Force Aviation Cadets and was Honorably Discharged in December of 1957 for medical reasons. He married Joan Wade on March 5, 1960. Kenneth was a Civil Service employee at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma in 1957. He was self employed as a farmer in Major County, Oklahoma from 1958 to 1960, and then worked for American Airlines in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1960. From October 1960 until April of 1973, Kenneth worked for Oklahoma Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Tulsa, Oklahoma, having served as Secretary and Legal Counsel since April 1970. In 1973, he then began working as a City Attorney for the Tulsa Parks Department. Kenneth worked there for several years until his retirement.
Kenneth enjoyed boating, fishing, archery and bridge and had a private pilot's license. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Tulsa County Bar Association, the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity and the Brookside Masonic Lodge. Kenneth was a member of the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joan, of the home; children; Dorothy Foster and husband Glen, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Dawson Davis and wife Wahllela of Tulsa, and Dana Waddell and husband Joe of Carney, Oklahoma; one sister, Marcia Lumptin and husband Bob of North Carolina and one grandchild.
His parents and brother Richard Davis preceded Kenneth in death.
Memorials may be made to the Fairview First United Methodist Church, with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodian.
