Graveside Services for Kenneth Louis Pendergraft, age 70, will be held 3:30 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2010 at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview Oklahoma. Reverend Harold Thompson will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Born a twin in Espanola, New Mexico on Sept. 22,1939, Kenneth Louis Pendergraft left us to live with his heavenly Father on Jan. 16,2010. After a courageous battle with cancer, Kenneth passed in his home surrounded by his wife, children and siblings.
Raised in Pond Creek, Oklahoma on the family farm, Kenneth left high school in his senior year to honorably serve his country as a sharpshooter in the US Army from 1958 to 1962. While stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, he met and fell in lifelong love with Ruth Ann Hall. They were married on August 15,1960. She was his great passion. They raised four children, Donnie, Tony, Lynn and Johnny. After many moves and relocations, Kenneth and Ruth settled their family in Fairview, Ok in February, 1979. Kenneth had throughout their marriage painted houses as a second profession and soon after the move to Fairview, he started his own business. He painted hundreds of houses in over forty years and took pride in every single one. He enjoyed his work and believed in doing his best no matter what and the customer was always right... even when they weren't. His strong work ethic was admired by many and a legacy to his children. After the children were grown, Kenneth and Ruth moved to Enid in 1991 to be closer to Ken's mother and siblings. Always the peacemaker and the jokester, Louis, as he was known to his brothers and sisters, will be greatly mourned.
Known by many other names,"Pops," "Daddy," "Louie," and "Poppy", Kenneth will be remembered for his love of family. His smile was always on the ready and if he wasn't giving someone a hard time, then something was wrong. That's how you knew he liked you! He was proud of his children and talked of them endlessly (Bragged is more like it.) He enjoyed many activities and was a lover of all things sports. Watching and talking football with his sons was a way of life. He played baseball in his younger years, then adult softball, then was an avid volleyball player. Anything that got his family together, he was all for it. Some of his fondest memories and favorite stories were found in the weekly volleyball tournaments held with his family. He liked nothing more than gathering all of his children, siblings, nieces and nephews together for some food and volleyball! He loved country music so much (the old stuff, mind you) that he named his daughter after his favorite singer, Loretta Lynn but nobody could sing like his sister, Lois, as far as he was concerned. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, throwing horseshoes, playing poker, gardening, old westerns and Gaither Family music, but without a doubt, his greatest joy came from his grandchildren. He was so proud of them. His great love for his grandbabies will always be cherished.
Kenneth joined in heaven his parents, Claude and Hazel (Barwick) Pendergraft, two brothers, Leroy and Eugene, two sisters, Janice Fay and Betty, two children, Kenneth Lee and Kelly Marie, and one grandson, Christopher Lynn.
However, Kenneth is still watching out for his wife of nearly 50 years, Ruth, his children and their families: Donnie and Patty (Vaughn) Pendergraft, Wichita Falls, TX; Tony and Donna (?) Pendergraft, Dallas, TX, Lynn Pendergraft, Fairview; and Johnny and Sara (Klassen) Pendergraft, Fairview; Donnie's sons, Julian, Enid, and Christian, Wichita Falls; Lynn's daughter, Cati Lyn; and Johnny and Sara's daughters, Krista and Karsyn as well as one lost daughter, Barbara Brock and her children and grandchildren. Also surviving Louis are his siblings-, his twin sister, Lois Carson, Pond Creek; his brothers, Don Pendergraft, Enid, James Pendergraft, Enid, and his sisters JoAnn and David Richardson, Enid, Claudean and Jerry Wilson, Enid, sister-in-law, Verna Pendergraft Enid, and over 100 nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, great, great nieces & nephews, and cousins of all rank and file. He will be missed. "Is that your favorite word?"
