Funeral Services for Laveta Larene (Widener) Martin will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church with burial following at the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Laveta Larene (Widener) Martin came into this world on November 3, 1937, to the loving parents of Otha Iman Widener and Bertha (Willis) Widener. She married the love of her life George Franklin Martin in Cordell, Oklahoma on May 29,1956. They were blessed with three children Paula Kay, Paulet Gay and George Harvey.
Laveta was a member of the Longdale Community Church and was baptized in the Canton Lake.
Laveta, a faithful loving wife and mother, always put her family first. Laveta had the perfect outlook on her service to the Lord. She was a true believer in the power of Christ, which was evident in her treatment of others. Her children were very blessed to have her as a mother. Through lean times or prosperous times, she always made sure they had all she could possibly give. All those who live in the great state of Oklahoma understand the difficult life the wife of a farmer endures. She taught us all to face each day with grit and fortitude and to smile all the while.
As God does, he creates each of us as a unique soul, and her soul was the most unique of all. The strength and character in which Laveta lived was evident until she took her very last breath.
Laveta was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents Otha and Bert and her sisters Aleta and Glea.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughters Paula Brashears and Kendall of Chickasha, OK, Paulet Owens and Wayne of Crescent, OK, son George Martin and Denise of Fairview, OK, and grandchildren Kristi Hayes (Monty), Jason Ewing (Chelsey), Tyson Owens (Sydney), Lindsey Owens, Kami Pascucci (Daniel), Brandon Martin, and Brittanie Martin. Laveta was blessed with nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
From all her grandchildren, it's not goodbye grandma; it's later alligator after a while crocodile.
Memorial donations can be made to the OMRF-Cancer Division.
