Lena (Wedel) Nightingale was born to Arthur and Dena Wedel on June 1, 1934 at the family farm in Isabella, OK and died August 22, 2016 at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview, OK, reaching the age of 82 years. She spent her growing up years in Isabella, OK where she received her education. They were a close family that enjoyed singing together and still enjoy spending time together as brothers and sisters. At the age of sixteen, she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in March of 1950. She loved and appreciated the church very much and was faithful to the end. There was not ever a question in our minds that Mom stood firm on the Rock, Jesus Christ and what the Bible taught.

On December 21, 1952 our mother was joined in marriage to our father, Frederick Wade Nightingale. They enjoyed 60 years together. Their home was blessed with one son and two daughters. They spent the first years of their married life living on the family farm with Dad's parents, Fred and Lydia, and Aunt Olive. In 1965 they bought a farm of their own, east of Cleo Springs where they lived until the summer of 2012 when they bought a house and moved into town at Fairview, OK.

Mom was a busy farmer's wife, helping feed cows, driving a grain truck and making meals for our many hired men. Mom was a hospitable, friendly person who loved a clean house and pretty yard. We have many memories of having friends, family and youth over. When we children were growing up, Mom sang, took walks and played games with us. For many years she kept a daily journal, writing down her thoughts and the day's happenings. Our parents spent time serving others as youth leaders and on food committees. Mom's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life in her later years.

Those left to cherish precious memories are: one son, Chris and Vickie of Cleo Springs, OK, two daughters; Adella and Randy Schmidt of Isabella, OK, Nola and David Unruh of Gentry, AR, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren, two sisters; Authrene and Ernest Nightingale of Fairview, OK and Jewel Nightingale of Montezuma, KS, three brothers; Clayton and Carol Wedel of Wingo, KY, Victor and Emalee Wedel, and Dale and Diane Wedel all of Isabella, OK, one sister-in-law, Luella Pierce of Ponca City, OK and many nieces, nephews, and friends

Preceding her in death is her husband, Wade, her parents, one brother and four sisters.

Memorials can be made to Church of God In Christ Mennonite Church with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
