Graveside Services for Leon Samuel Martin, 81, will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the White County Memorial Gardens, Searcy, Arkansas. The Reverend Michael Johnson will officiate Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc
Leon was born July 31, 1934 in Fay, Oklahoma to Burtie O. and Mable L. (West) Martin and passed away November 16, 2015 at the United Health Hospital, Searcy, Arkansas.
Leon grew up in Dewey County, Oklahoma and attended public school there but later moved to McClave Colorado where he graduated High School. He later moved and worked as a farmer in Lamar, Colorado.
October 10th, 1969 in Gravette, Arkansas, Leon was united in marriage to Ruth Marcia Lynch. Leon worked at Noel, Missouri at a furniture factory. Leon and Ruth moved to Siloam Springs to work at a chicken farm that raised broilers for Simmons Chicken Plant. In 1974 they sold and moved to Dewey, Oklahoma. Ruth's mother passed away in May of 1975 after which they moved back to Gravette.
After Leon's wife Ruth retired in 1989, they then traveled to see the country. Ruth and Leon decided to return to Enid, Oklahoma and operate an apartment complex for a real estate company. After five years they sold the apartment complex and moved to Wakita, Oklahoma a small, quiet little town.
In December 2007, Ruth's health began to fail and they moved back to Enid Oklahoma. On July 30, 2009 Leon's wife departed this world and went to be with her heavenly father. Leon stayed in the Enid area for a short time after his wife died and then returned to Searcy, Arkansas where he remained until his death.
Leon is survived by two sisters-in-law on his wife's side, Lela Lynch of Mesa, Arizona and Marietta (Lynch) Davis of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and several friends.
Leon was preceded in death by her parents, one brothers and five sister.
