Linda Sue
Howerton
Aug 21, 1951 — Apr 30, 2026
Fairview
Memorial Services for Linda Sue (Proffitt) Howerton, 74, of Fairview, Oklahoma will be at 10:30 am on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Oklahoma. Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Linda Sue Howerton was born on August 21, 1951, to Lester Proffitt and Bernita Ratzliff Strohm. She left this life on the morning of April 30, 2026.
Linda graduated from Fairview High School in 1969. She became a mother to Kenny and Kerry in the following years. She went on to work several years for Gard Jewelry. In 1984, she began working at the Fairview Sale Barn and Haworth Vet Clinic in Okeene until she retired in 2024. Throughout her life, Linda loved being Nana. Be it a sporting event, an afternoon at the Vet Clinic, a sleep over at her house, or on her phone, Nana found great joy in watching her grandkids and more recently, her great grandkids. She worked hard her entire life, and that was apparent with any visit to her house, although she would remind you that she still needed to dust. Granted that damn wind didn't interfere, the grass would be mowed, garden growing, chores taken care of, with animals and kids fed alike, all thanks to Nana. When she wasn't moving around doing something, Linda enjoyed spending time at the barn with Buddy and whoever else made their way down the driveway. Linda was the picture of strength and stubbornness wrapped in love and understanding. There was never a person who felt unwelcome in Nana's presence.
Linda is preceded in death by her father, Lester Proffitt, brother, Rudy Proffitt, sister and brother-in-law, Janel and Larry Curtis, and niece, Mandy Clodfelter.
Linda is survived by her mother, Bernita Ratzliff Strohm, Buddy Smith, sister Rita Mitch and brother-in-law Terry Mitch, son Kenny Howerton and wife Jayci, daughter Kerry Westfahl and husband Owen, six grandchildren, Caleb Westfahl and wife Sara, Kendra Harding and husband James, Kaycee Olive and husband Sterling, Catherine Westfahl, Craig Westfahl, and Karson Howerton, four great-grandchildren, Elijah Mount, Cooper Olive, Parker Olive, and Conrad Westfahl, as well as several nieces and nephews.
