Lloyd Lavern Jantz's Obituary
Memorial Services for Lloyd L. Jantz, 78 of Fairview, will be held May 13, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview United Methodist Church. Reverend Rich Redinger will officiate.
Lloyd L. Jantz was born December 25, 1932 to Ben H. and Ruth (Tuxhorn) Jantz at Montezuma, Kansas. He departed this life on May 9, 2011 in Enid, Oklahoma.
Lloyd attended school in Montezuma Kansas graduating from High school in 1951 at the age of 19, he joined the United States Navy in Dodge City Kansas serving from 1952 to 1956. He served on an aircraft carrier during the Korean Conflict earning the rate of Metal Smith 2nd Class.
Lloyd married Wanda Whitesell in Dodge City, Kansas May 26, 1955. They spent their first married years in San Diego, California and Bremerton, Washington. Upon discharge from the Navy, they settled in Hutchinson, Kansas, living there almost eighteen years. While living in Hutchinson, they were blessed with two children, Toni and Terry.
The family moved to Fairview, Oklahoma in 1974, during the oil boom. Lloyd worked at several different jobs in the oilfield. He was a welder for 53 years, an occupation learned at an early age from his father.
He loved his children very much and his hopes were for them to excel, achieving more than he had. He saw this come to pass in education and many other talents. He dearly loved his grandchildren for their own merits and as equal individuals.
Lloyd was a lover of music and also played several stringed instruments. He had a hobby of building stringed instruments. During the last several years, he renewed his love for motorcycles riding as much as possible.
Lloyd is survived by his daughter Toni and husband Graham Murphy of Sunnyvale California; son Terry and wife Sally Jantz of Fairview; four grandchildren Tymbre and husband Jose Chavez, Garrett Jantz, Ashlyn Murphy, and Ryan Murphy and one great-grandchild Drayton Chavez as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Wanda, his parents, one sister Lois, and one brother Robert.
Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Division, with the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. acting as custodian.
