Lola Mae Morris' Obituary
Funeral service for Lola Morris age 94 of Fairview will be 10:30, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Orion Baptist Church at Orion. The Reverends Charles Newton and Micky Flynn will be officiating with burial following in the Orion Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Lola was born December 14, 1921 to Ovia and Emily Clark at Owensboro, Kentucky. She attended grade school and freshmen year in Kentucky. Then the family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and Lola graduated from Ben Davis High in Indianapolis.
Lola worked for 18 1/2 years as bookkeeper for Major Gas Co. and Secretary for Major County Farm Bureau.
She married Bruce Morris in 1971. They lived in New York for a year and then bought a grocery store at Roaring Springs, Texas. After a year and half they moved back to Fairview and bought the acreage at Orion where they made their home for 26 years. Lola then worked at Burrell Implement and then for 8 years as secretary for Major County Dist #3 where she retired.
Lola loved to bowl and did until she had knee problems. She loved working in her yard spring and summer. In the winter months Lola loved to embroidery quilts and was a member of the Eastern Star. She made quilts for her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters Mrs. Dwayne (Sandy) Hurst of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, Mrs. Martin (DeAnn) Silverman of Indianapolis, Indiana and Mrs. Wendell (Linda) Smith of Brookport, Illinois. Five grandchildren Terry (Cindy) Hurst Cleo Springs, Tammy (Wayne) Hubble Fairview, - Donnie Smith Brookport, Illinois, Doron Silverman Indianapolis, Indiana and Batya Roebbaum Cincinnati, Ohio. Eight great grandchildren Travis and Chad Hurst, Mindy Quint, Brittany Goodin, Danielle Hubble, Jake Smith, Goldie and Eva Rosenbaum. Five great great grandchildren Tanner, Logan and Brendon Hurst, Ashlynn Quint and Kadence Goodin. One brother Stewart Clark, Palm Harbor Florida. One stepson Gerald Spear Zehuatomery, Old Mexico and stepdaughter Carol Ann Pike, Amarillo Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, a brother, two son in laws and a brother in law, and a stepson.
Memorials can be made to the Orion Baptist Church or OMRF Heart Division with Fairview Funeral home acting as custodians.
