Funeral Services for Madeline, 87, of Fairview, will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Central Christian Church in Fairview, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. The Reverend Chuck McKinney will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Viewing will be Saturday from 9:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. There will be viewing before the service at the church.
Madeline was born August 26, 1920 in Seiling, Oklahoma to Ed and Clara Hurt and died April 24, 2008 at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview, Oklahoma.
She attended the one room Diamond School and graduated from Seiling High School in 1938. Madeline graduated from Lamte Beauty College in Oklahoma City and worked in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She married Winston Udean Gaylord on December 28, 1939 in Woodward, Oklahoma. After their marriage, they lived in the Seiling community. They then lived in Longdale for a short time. Madeline and Udean moved to Fairview in 1944, where they would remain for the rest of their lives. She worked as a beautician for a few years and at the Royal Theatre. She was a seamstress at Foster's Cleaners, Tincy's and Marten's House of Fashion. She was a member of the Central Christian Church where she was the attendance clerk for many years.
Madeline was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working with her flowers, dancing and traveling with her family.
Surviving are her three children, Larrie and Linda of Bastrop, Texas, Nancy and Mike of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and Laddie and Sandy of Ponca City, Oklahoma; brother Evan and Virginia Hurt of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Her husband Udean, of 59 years and her parents, Ed and Clara Hurt, preceded her in death.
