Funeral Services for Margaret Grace (Shirley) Grewell, 82, of Fairview, will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Cleo Springs Methodist Church, Cleo Springs Oklahoma with burial to follow in the Carmen City Cemetery, Carmen, Oklahoma. Tyron Wheeler will officiate. Arrangements are by the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 29th at Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Margaret Grace (Shirley) Grewell was born May 22, 1926 in Carmen, Oklahoma to Marion Benjamin Shirley and Laura Belle (Lee) Shirley and passed away December 28, 2008 at the Fairview Regional Medical Center in Fairview, Oklahoma.
Margaret grew up in Carmen and graduated from Carmen High School in 1945. She was very active in band while in school. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Carmen as a telephone operator for two years. Margaret married Marvin Frank Grewell on October 7, 1949 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. Following the marriage, they moved to Cleo Springs, where Marvin operated Cleo Hardware and Feed store. Margaret worked in the Cleo Café as a waitress for a year or two and then filled in as needed. She truly enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. Marvin passed away on July 6, 1990. Margaret remained in Cleo until moving to the Fairview Fellowship Home in March 2001.
Margaret was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Cleo Springs and then Cherokee. She went through the chairs to become Worthy Matron in 1960. She received her 50-year pin on December 19, 2000.
Margaret was an active member of the Cleo Methodist Church, served as a Sunday school teacher and belonged to the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her daughter Shirley Pullan and husband Tommy of Fairview; brother Cecil Shirley and wife Eva of Prescott Valley, Arizona; sister Ruth Murtha of Michigan; two grandchildren, Tessa Littrell and husband Eric of Cleo Springs, Kristi Koehn and husband Jeremie of Isabella; five great grandchildren, Ethan, Austin and Halle Littrell of Cleo Springs, and Kyla and Chance Koehn of Isabella.
Her parents; husband; infant son Marvin Wayne Grewell;, three sisters, Anna, Doris and Celia; three brothers, Walter, Joe and Houston; and one great-granddaughter, Hartley Koehn preceded her in death.
