The funeral for Mark D. Sproul, Sr., 86, of Isabella, will be Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at 10:30 am at the Isabella Church of the Nazarene in Isabella. The Rev. Nathan Twyman will officiate. Burial will be at the Isabella Cemetery.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 9 am to 5 pm and Wednesday, from 9 am to 8 pm with the family there between 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Fairview Funeral Home.
Mark was born on Sept. 2, 1924, in Isabella, to Grant and Eleanor Sproul. He died on Sept. 6, 2010 in Fairview. He grew up on a farm at Isabella and graduated from Okeene High School. Mark was drafted into the Army and served during WWII. He married Mary Ellen Wahl of Isabella, on Nov. 2, 1946 and they raised five children. Mark was a lifelong farmer and avid fisherman.
Surviving are sons Rex Sproul and wife Maggie, John Sproul, and wife Barbara, and daughter Mary Louise Sproul, all of Isabella; and sons Mark D. Sproul, Jr and wife Verna of Harper, KS and Bill Sproul, and wife Peggy, of Sedan, KS. Also surviving is a sister, Norine Dumler, of Enid. Mark had 15 grand children and 12 great grand children.
His parents, his wife, Mary Ellen; and a brother, Andrew, of Isabella, preceded Mark in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love through Fairview Funeral Home.
