Marsha Gail Schmidt's Obituary
Funeral services for Marsha Gail Schmidt, 44, of Ringwood, will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, East of Fairview, OK. The Reverend Dale Becker will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Marsha, my beloved wife, our loving mother, daughter and sister, was born to Jerry and Ruth Wedel in Okeene, Oklahoma on September 25, 1971. She passed from this life in the late evening hours of July 18, 2016, with her loved ones around her bedside, reaching the age of 44 years.
Marsha grew to adulthood in the Ringwood community. She spent a happy childhood together with her sister and brother. She and her siblings formed a close bond. Many precious memories linger of the times spent together. She accepted the call of God to salvation and was baptized on May 27, 1984 at the Fairview Congregation, by Min. Milton Boehs. She quietly served the Lord, remaining faithful to the church and her vows for the rest of her life.
On October 10, 1993 she was united in marriage to me, Keith Schmidt at the Fairview Congregation by Min. Randy Levings. Our marriage was blessed with three girls and one boy. Marsha gave herself unselfishly to me and the children. I deeply cherish the twenty-two years we spent together as a family.
Marsha and I lived and raised our family here in the Ringwood area near her childhood home. Marsha was a homemaker and homebody at heart. Marsha was the center of our lives and her absence leaves an aching void in my heart and our home. She was happiest when surrounded by her children. She gave herself to them in so many ways as mamas do: teaching them to cook and sew; to do their best always, and to never give up. She was industrious. We girls remember waking at night to the sound of mom's sewing machine. She was working deep into the night to meet our needs. How could we not know that she loved us! To be cuddled by mom and close to her was the "best feeling ever". We felt her support in so many ways: she was understanding, she taught us to be forgiving and tolerant of others. Marsha was an unselfish daughter and sister, always looking out for us and wanting to help in any way she could. The times we spent together, shopping, talking on the phone, just being together, are special memories. Marsha was a quiet, loyal friend. She made friends easily and enjoyed the chance to chat with them when they met.
Marsha battled her disease valiantly for about five years. Marsha met this challenge with courage. Even in the tough times her smile was present. She never stopped caring and thinking of others. She especially appreciated all the prayers and support she felt. The family wishes to express a special thank you to all of you who prayed and cared through these difficult times.
As the time of her passing drew near, Marsha submitted her future and her loved ones to God. She spoke to her dear children, urging them to stay true to God all their lives. In a recent testimony she stated that it was calm and quiet in her heart as she just trusted it all to God. As her family, we wished more than anything else, that if she needed to leave us, she would be saved and in Heaven. Though we are grieving deeply, we believe she is at home with the Lord, free at last from the struggles and disappointments of this life. We miss her so much and long to be reunited forever one day, on that heavenly shore.
Marsha is survived in loving memory by her husband Keith of Ringwood, 3 daughters: Karianna, Andreé, and Kimbry; 1 son, Trevor all of the home; a special nephew Benji, who she considered as a son; her parents; Jerry and Ruth Wedel of Ringwood; mother in law, Janet Schmidt of Fairview; sister, Sandra and Clinton Koehn; brother Rodney and Darla Wedel; brother in law, Eugene Schmidt all of Ringwood; sisters in law: Carol and Kevin Koehn of Leland, Mississippi, and Linda and Roger Mazelin of Clarkrange, Tennessee; and numerous and loved: aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marsha is pre-deceased by her father in law, Freeman Schmidt, and a sister in law, Trudy Schmidt.
