Funeral Services for Mary Alice Baum, 76, will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Fairview Church of the Nazarene in Fairview, Oklahoma. The Reverend Charles McKinney will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Viewing will be at Fairview Funeral Home Inc., Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be viewing at the church prior to the service.
Mary Alice Baum was born August 23, 1931 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Claude Virgil Fields and Mary Velma (McNeal) Fields and died May 21, 2008 at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview, Oklahoma.
Mary Alice was born and raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Central High in 1950. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Bonnell for several years. She then attended Muskogee Junior College and Bethany Nazarene College as an Elementary Education Major, completing three years of her education. On May 29, 1964 she married Calvin Eugene Baum and not only became a wife but also a mother to five children. Shortly after the marriage the family moved to Fairview and opened Baum Bakery. A year later they moved to Southard. Two years after that they returned to Fairview where Calvin went to work at Fairview High School. Mary Alice worked for a dentist for a short time and was then employed by Fairview Schools as a cook for many years. She subsequently worked at the Fairview Hospital as a Pharmacy Tech until she retired.
Mary Alice was an active member of the Fairview Church of the Nazarene, where she attended faithfully, served as church secretary, was a Sunday school teacher, was active in missions, and assisted with Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by three daughters, Elaine Caraway of Norman, Calleen Davis and her husband Jess of Fairview, and Linda Estep and her husband Tony of Springdale, AR; two sons, Garen Baum and his wife Peggy of Fairview, and Byron Baum of Fairview; nine grandchildren, Christina and Nathan Unruh, Dustin Baum, Nicole Davis, Michelle Caraway, Angela Davis, Kayla Baum, Kyler Baum, Carissa Estep, Rebecca Davis; one great-granddaughter, Ashton Caraway and two great-grandsons, Jacob and Jagger Unruh; one brother Claude Fields and wife Judy of Muskogee, Oklahoma and sister Nancy Harkey and husband Jim of Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Calvin; sister Sue Fields and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Caraway.
