Funeral Services for Mary Ann McDowell, 76, formerly of Cleo Springs, will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Cleo Springs Methodist Church, Cleo Springs Oklahoma with burial to follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near Aline, Oklahoma. The Rev. Scott Heusel will officiate. Arrangements are by the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be Saturday, February 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, February 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Mary Ann (Diggs) McDowell was born May 20, 1932 in Clovis, New Mexico to Laken Raymond Diggs and Glaydes Augusta (Miller) Diggs and passed away February 5, 2009 at the Kingfisher Regional Hospital in Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

As a child, Mary Ann moved many times with her family. She went to as many as 26 schools. In her early teens they moved to Cleo Springs, Oklahoma where she attended high school. She was a very talented artist and while in high school she drew the school mascot, the Bearcat, on the stage curtains.

Mary Ann married Warren F. McDowell on December 25, 1950 in Cleo Springs. They were blessed with one daughter, Anna Faye. Mary Ann worked at many different jobs during her lifetime. She was a baby sitter and a very good seamstress. She made many of the school play costumes while Anna was going to school. Mary Ann also helped the older ladies in town by having them over to her home and fixing their hair. After Warren retired they started doing evening janitorial work and cleaned the F&M Bank for many years. She lived in Cleo Springs until Warren passed away in 1999 after 48 years of marriage. Mary Ann moved to Kingfisher to live with her daughter Anna and in 2004 entered the Rest Home.

Mary Ann loved to paint and liked many other crafts, especially making dolls. She enjoyed music and could play the piano by ear. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Cleo Springs. Mary Ann was a member of the Cleo Springs Christian Church but always attended the Cleo Springs Methodist Church with husband Warren.

She is survived by her daughter Anna Faye Lawrence and husband Terry of Kingfisher; two brothers, Lee Roy Diggs and wife Dolores of Cleo Springs and Bennie Ray Diggs of Panhandle, Texas; three grandchildren, Shondra Hoffman and husband Ira, Kevin Lawrence and Sheila Fuksa and husband Ryan; and five great grandchildren, Austin Lawrence, Karly Lawrence, Morgan Hoffman, Hunter Hoffman and Gracie Fuksa.

Her parents, husband Warren and granddaughter Carla Jenel Lawrence preceded her in death.
