Funeral Services for Minnie Belle Pembrook, age 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2009 at Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene burial will follow at the Longdale Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 19, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Thursday, August 20, 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Minnie Belle Pembrook was born May 4, 1923 in Isabelle, Oklahoma to Charles Augustus and Eva Marie (Coleman) Lyons, and passed away Monday, August 17, 2009 at Fairview Fellowship Home Fairview, Oklahoma.
Minnie attended school till the 8th grade. After school she worked at the American Legion School in Ponca City. She married Walter George Pembrook, April 1, 1941 in Fairview, Oklahoma at the Major County Court House. After they were married they worked on a farm until Walter joined the Navy during World War II. Minnie and Walter then moved to Houston, Texas where Walter worked as a Navy Ship inspector. Later they moved to San Diego, California. After WWII they moved back to Oklahoma. They moved and lived in many different places in and around Fairview as Walters Construction work moved them. Minnie worked as a waitress and cook in most of the cafes in Fairview, Longdale and the surrounding area. She also worked for a short time at Hallren's Produce. However, her true love was nursing. She worked for 18 years at the Fairview Hospital and the Fairview Fellowship Home when it first opened. Minnie loved children and babies and while working in the Hospital she worked in the nursery. Minnie was always busy working weather it was cooking which she was the best or nursing or raising 7 children. Minnie loved her church and gospel music. She enjoyed singing with her children as they rode to town in their old Model T. Minnie was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all. Minnie was a member of the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene, First Church of the Nazarene in Fairview and the Longdale Baptist Church..
She is survived by her three sons, Jimmie G. Pembrook and wife Karlene of Ringwood, Jerry W. Pembrook and wife Lucy of Longdale, Billy J. Pembrook and wife Jan of Longdale; three daughters, Marquetta "Kitty" Pembrook of Enid, Veta M. Thomas and husband Jim of Longdale, Connie B. Hinchey and husband Paul of Anadarko, and one daughter-in-law Brenda Pembrook of Longdale; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, along with a host of other family and friends.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter; and one son, Danny F. Pembrook, one sister and one brother.
Memorials may be made to the Fairview Fellowship Home to the General Store with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodian.
