Obituary

Funeral services for Naomi Ruth Wedel, 74, of Ringwood, wife of Jerry R. Wedel, will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Fairview, Oklahoma. Burial will follow the service at the Cedar Cemetery.   Arrangements by the Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Naomi Ruth Wedel was born to Ben and Nettie (Nightingale) Koehn on June 30, 1948. at the Okeene hospital.  She peacefully passed away on October 19, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital reaching the age of 74 years.

She was joined in marriage to Jerry R Wedel of Ringwood on July 20, 1968 in her parents' home.  To this union was born two daughters and one son. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage.  Dad thought of her as a beautiful lady, but more than that she was a spiritual helper, super mother and loving, compassionate wife!

She grew up and lived her whole life in the Ringwood area. Shortly after her son's birth both she and dad gave their hearts to the Lord and on March 3, 1974 were baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite by Minister Milton Boehs.

She was a homemaker her whole life. She took on babysitting along with her daughters, for a couple of her great nieces (Laici and Amanda) which she loved very much.

Amanda continued coming to see mom.  They enjoyed many Saturday lunches and afternoons together. She was a grandma to a lot of children and young people alike who loved her very much. In the last while Colby and Dedra Nightingale came many Sunday evenings for snack and visiting. She really enjoyed her times on vacation with her family to Colorado and New Mexico mountains, and the many vacations with her nephew Leonard and Lisa Koehn which took them to lots of destinations.

In 2016 she lost her daughter Marsha to cancer which caused much grief and depressing times. With the Lord's help she found comfort that saw her through.

She was blessed with the gift of talk to anyone she met whether in town, church or in her home.

She fell and broke her hip in 2019 which seemed to start her decline. This last year was a difficult time with her health. She had many weak times and pain.  We remember mom getting lots of answers to her prayers!  When we would ask her if she would like a prayer before we left her room she would say "you know the answer to that".  In the last while looking back, it seems like mom was looking forward to going home to the better land. The last two Sundays seemed to be some of her better days and we as a family enjoyed those days with her.

She had just gotten a recliner in her room and was enjoying sitting in it for the first and last time, when we asked her if it was as comfortable as the one, she sat in at home.  Her response was not what we expected as she said she hadn't sat in the one at home yet. We believe she was thinking already of going home to be with her Lord.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Jerry, daughter Sandy and Clint Koehn of Ringwood; son Rodney and Darla Wedel of Ringwood; son in law Keith and wife Jarolyn Schmidt of Ringwood.  Nine grandchildren: Benji and Alayna Koehn, Karianna and Nate Graber, Andree', Kimbry, Trevor Schmidt, Jacque, Cassie, Kyleigh, Zack Wedel. Three great grandchildren Bensyn, Baylor Koehn, Logan Graber.  One sister Delores Nightingale of Isabella.  Also, her Wedel in- laws whom she considered as her own brothers and sisters. Numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Marsha Schmidt, infant sister Pauline; two brothers John and Vernon Koehn.
