Olive Ruth Brinson's Obituary
Funeral Services for Olive Ruth Brinson, age 89, will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Cleo Springs Christian Church. The Reverend Sam Justice will officiate. Burial will follow at the Square Cedar Cemetery east of Cleo Springs. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Olive Ruth Brinson was born February 19, 1920 to Orin Isaac Law and Ruby Elizabeth (Tucker) Law and went to be with Jesus on April 4, 2009 in Fairview, Oklahoma.
Olive graduated from Cleo Springs High School in 1940. Soon thereafter she apprenticed as a cosmetologist in Fairview, Oklahoma.
Olive married Bruce Waldron Brinson on April 29, 1940 and together they had two children, Kenneth Wayne Brinson and Brenda Diane Brinson-Ent. They made their home in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma in 1942, where they had a small farming operation. Bruce passed away in 1952 and she married Warren Stephens in 1953. Olive and Warren built and operated the Cimarron Roller Rink for a number of years. They remained married until his death in 1965.
Olive enjoyed quilting, sewing, and knitting. She was a professional seamstress for more than 45 years. She also served as bookkeeper for Law Sandpit for many years. She enjoyed being with family and friends.
She was a member of the Cleo Springs 1st Christian Church and Quilters Guild.
Olive is survived by one son, Kenneth Wayne Brinson of Fairview; grandsons, Bruce Brinson of Cleo Springs, Bret Brinson of Shawnee, and Scott Stewart of Pond Creek; granddaughters, Darla Brinson of Longdale, Dianna Fisher of Okeene, and Lanette Barnett of Aline; 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, two nieces, and the Stephens family.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Bruce Waldron Brinson and Warren Stephens; daughter, Brenda Brinson-Ent; grandsons, David and Steven Stewart; her parents and one sister, Juanita Ryel.
Memorials may be made to the Christopher Reeves Foundation and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation - Kidney Division with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. acting as custodians of the funds.
