Funeral Services for Opal Schroeder, 90, will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Fairview, Oklahoma. The Reverend James Suderman will officiate. Burial will follow in the North Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. .

Opal Irene Schroeder daughter of John and Mae Lee was born April 26, 1922 on a farm northwest of Cleo Springs. This land was homesteaded by her uncle during the Oklahoma land run and later purchased by her Father.

Opal received her elementary education at Elm Flat School and graduated from Cleo Springs High School in 1940. She annually attended the Cleo Springs Alumni dinner and in April 2012, at the age of 90, she was the oldest graduate present.

She was united in marriage to August Schroeder July 3, 1940. They made their home on a farm northeast of Fairview where they raised a daughter Patricia and a son Jim.

In 1942 after much conviction she accepted Jesus as her savior during a revival at the First Baptist Church of Fairview. She was baptized by Pastor L.C. Mosher. taught primary children in Sunday School for several years. She and August later attended the Mennonite Brethren Church where they enjoyed Sunday School classes, church services and WMS quilting.

She was a cook at Orienta Grade School and when it consolidated she attended beauty school and was a beautician for several years.

She enjoyed family, canning, yard work and letter writing.

Her husband of 57 years, August Schroeder, passed away in 1997.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia and husband Carroll Germany of Tahlequah, son Jim and wife Denise of Norman, 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. One sister Jane Bush of Moody, Texas and husband Barney and several nieces and nephews.
