Memorial Services for Ramon Lyle Henson, 100, of Fairview, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church in Fairview, Oklahoma.  There will be a private family burial.  The Reverend Daniel Passini will officiate.  There will be no viewing.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Ramon Lyle Henson was born on July 2, 1925 on the family farm near Isabella, Oklahoma.  He was born to Gladys Horton Henson and Roger Henson.  He passed away on May 18, 2026 at the Fairview Regional Medical Center.

Ray attended school in Fairview and graduated from Fairview High School in 1943. He was senior class president and lettered in four sports.  After high school he served two years during World War II in the Army Air Force stationed in Guam.  He then attended Oklahoma A&M and graduated with his degree in public health in 1948.  He married his college sweetheart, Eleanor Kendall from Dewey on May 29, 1948 in Stillwater OK.

To this union were born three children, Roger, David and Lisa.  Ray spent more than 10 years working for public health in Illinois, Ohio and Cheyenne Wyoming. After that, he went onto study education and earn his second Master's Degree in special education at the University of Wyoming. Ray was a dedicated public school teacher for over 25 years before retiring.

Ray epitomized having the heart of a servant and spent the majority of his retirement years helping others whenever and wherever he could. From delivering meals, spearheading recycling efforts, adopting dogs in need, volunteering at the elementary school and the historical society, he kept himself busy with all of his charitable endeavors. He was a proud lifelong member of the Methodist Church and the Lions Club. After his wife of 60 years passed away, Ray was able to indulge his love of travel and adventure. A lifelong learner, he especially loved history, art and chocolate! Some of his favorite places he traveled were to Paris to see the Mona Lisa, Amsterdam to go to the Van Gogh Museum, Brussels to sample delicious chocolate, Ireland to go to the Cliffs of Moher (and sleep in a hostel for the first time, much to his delight) and London to see the Rosetta Stone.

He is survived by his son David and his wife Sandra from Oklahoma City, their 3 children Andrew (Katie), Chris (Sheridan), and Timothy (Elisa) and 7 grandchildren, Mikaiah, Cadence, Evelyn, Holden, Asher, Graham and Joshua. His daughter Lisa and her husband Jeffrey of Coronado, California, their two children, Victoria and Emily. His sister Carolina (Henson) Allsman from Columbia Missouri, her 4 children and all of his much beloved, extended family. Ray will be remembered for his joyful nature, his love of God and his family and humbly serving others.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Fairview Methodist food ministry.
