Memorial Services for Randall Joe Crane, 54, of Fairview, Oklahoma, will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 24 at the Fairview Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Hugh Robert Peck, Jr. will officiate. Cremation services are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Randall Joe Crane was born October 19, 1955 in Huntington Park, California to James Walter and Jo Lee Francis (Sewell) Crane and passed away Monday, September 20, 2010 at his home in Fairview.

The family moved from California to El Paso, Texas and lived there for four years, then on to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a few years and back to El Paso where they lived until 1966. Randy then moved, with his mother, younger brother and sister, to Thomas, Oklahoma. He was active in sports, especially football. Throughout high school, Randy played drums in the band. His freshman through senior years he participated in the academic program S.W.I.M. placing high in zoology and animal biology. Randy graduated from Thomas High School in 1973. He attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, studying his true love, zoology. He was a member of the American Society of Ichthyologist and Herpetologists. Following college, he moved to Dallas, Texas to live with his father. Randy lived and worked in the Dallas area for a number of years before returning to Oklahoma, settling in Fairview in 1989. Randy held a huge fondness for wild animals especially snakes. He used to participate in the various area snake hunts. He was a talented gardener and helped many people with their gardens and general yard work. Randy was an all around handy man and was always going that extra mile to help people. He always could laugh and loved to laugh. His sense of humor, smile, loving heart and kindness towards others will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Randy is survived by his father James W. "Jim" Crane of Bessie, Oklahoma; two brothers, Richard "Rick" Allen Crane and Ryan Lee Crane of Fairview; one sister, Jamie Ann Morgan and husband James; two nephews, Jonathan and Jason Morgan, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; stepfather Samuel W. Simmons and one aunt, Charlene Roof of Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe Dalton Sewell and Edythe Anna Francis (Buchanan) Sewell; paternal grandparents B.E. and Helen Crane; and mother Jo Lee Crane.

Memorials may be made to the Randy Crane Memorial Fund with the funeral home acting as custodian.
