On the morning of July 10, 2020, Raymond (Whitey) Lee died at the age of 95. Whitey was born in Loraine, TX to James and Myrtle Lee in 1925. He attended Bowman Elementary, and he graduated from Loraine High School in 1942.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 8, 1943 and separated from the Navy on February 21, 1946 with a Honorable Discharge. He is a WW II veteran who was part of the Battle of Normandy which began on June 6, 1944 and lasted until August 1944; (Operation Overlord), also known as D-Day.

Whitey retired from the oil and gas industry in the early 1980's. He was a golfer for many years, enjoyed playing bridge with his wife, Jane, and their bridge club friends. He and Jane met at a dance, and they were a great dance couple. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard, which was beautiful and always well manicured. Their peonies were always shared with neighbors and friends. He and Jane enjoyed traveling and spending summers at their cabin in Colorado. Whitey's sense of humor was enjoyed by many of his friends and relatives. He could be quite a character!!

Raymond "Whitey" Lee was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Olan Lee and Beatrice, Alden Lee and Earlene; sisters: Mary Edna Lee, Helen Lee, Ina Bess Compton and Bud, Gertha Davidson and Jess, Lynette Slaughter and Clyde, Ruth Tumbow and Terry, Modelle Brookshire (L.D.); nephews: Bobby Slaughter (Emma), Steve Compton (Sherryl); nieces: Bobbie Joanne Lee Nichols and Drue, Linda Slaughter Case and Bill, Marsha Compton Mann and Jerry, Kay Brookshire Rumbo and David.

Whitey is survived by his wife, Jane (Hillabolt) Lee, brother, Elvis Lee and Suzanne, daughters, Karen (Lee) Slaughter and Mike, Kathi (Lee) Chamberlain and Jim, Kyla (Lee) Coulson and Dean, with their mother Ecla Cheek Caraway; step-daughters, Cindy (Freed) Trick, Michelle Freed; step-son, Michael Freed. He had nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, 18 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
