Memorial Services for Richard Leroy Foster, age 66, will be held Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 2 pm in the Fairview Funeral Home Chapel with Kris Ewbank officiating. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Richard was born January 26, 1943 in Enid, Oklahoma to Roy Walter and Josephine Janzen Foster and passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Weatherford Regional Hospital in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Richard lived with his family in Enid and went to school there until the sixth grade when they moved to Fairview and he completed his education. In 1959 Richard joined the United States Navy and served four years. After his discharge he retuned to Fairview for a short time and drove a truck delivering tractors until a job opened up at Vance AFB. In 1967 he married Helen Carol Bailey and they continued to live in Enid. A few years later they moved back to Fairview and Richard helped Helen run the Lucky Duck Restaurant, then Carols Café and later the Sale Barn Café. In 1974 he started to work in the oil field and they moved to Mooreland, Oklahoma. In 1976 Richard and Helen were divorced. Richard continued to work in the oil field and in 1989 he moved to Lookeba, Oklahoma to be with his wife Billie Wright Foster. Richard taught auto body at the Caddo Kiowa Vo-tech in Fort Cobb for 14 years until 1997 he retired after his first heart attack.
Richard loved to play pool winning many trophies. Richard also enjoyed car auctions and looking for priceless keepsakes and treasures that he was always going to repair. He spent a lot of time watching his grandson Jerrod play baseball. He loved it so much that he would drive the activity bus just to go and watch him play.
Richard is survived by wife Billie Wright Foster of Lookeba, Oklahoma; two daughters, Kathi Bailey Gray and Christina England Smith, and the grandson he raised Jerrod and wife Tiffanie Murray. He was also survived by 20 more grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Michael and Johni Bailey and one brother, Curtis Foster.
