Funeral Services for Robert "Bob" Maxwell Truitt will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in the Hennessey Cemetery, Hennessey, Oklahoma. Family visitation will be Friday, August 10 from 6-8 PM in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Robert Maxwell Truitt was born in Enid, Oklahoma on December 4, 1938 to parents, Samuel Jackson and Carleen (Lee) Truitt. Bob's father left when he was only six weeks old so he was raised by his step father who was in the service. Traveling became a way of life for them. He lived in Enid, Homestead, Germany and eventually Fairview. Bob was a fabulous storyteller and experienced many of the tales while living in Germany. He told often about living in Munich, Germany right after WW II when they lived next door to the base. He crawled under the fence, where he found a hand grenade. Excited to show off his new found treasure, he ran home and showed his mother. She only instructed him to take it back to where he found it and leave it there. He also told of how he was accused of cracking a safe and was jailed for a crime he didn't commit.

Bob married Viola and was blessed with four lovely children, Susan, Robert, Michael and Brenda. He then married Carol and following Carol's passing Bob again found love with Velda (Penner) Wimer. The couple was married on Valentine's Day 1990. With this marriage Bob gained three children Scott, Terry and Brad Wimer. Velda and Bob celebrated 28 years together.

Bob was a fine example of faith in action. He loved helping others in need and was always willing to lend a hand wherever the need arose. Working for Mabar, Marten's Manufacturing and TLC through the years and recently with MAGB, Bob met numerous people he could positively affect with his Christian walk. Always a kid at heart, Bob enjoyed collecting toys and HO gauge model trains were his favorite. He also collected coins, enjoyed hunting and making jerky from the venison, camping and gardening. Growing tomatoes in his garden earned him a spot as head of the greenhouse at TLC, teaching the men there, the secrets of a great garden. He also had a knack for working in the woodshop and taught the guys to make Adirondack chairs that they were able to sell and raise money for the TLC program. While at TLC, he became a mentor to many and shared his love for Christ. Bob was loved by many and will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory, are his wife Velda of the home, children; Susan and Isaac Myers, Enid, Michael and Kimberlee Truitt, Bethany, OK, Brenda and Kevin Friesen, Enid, step-sons; Scott Wimer, Fairview, Terry and Misty Wimer, Blanchard, OK and Brad and Marshalene Wimer, Fairview, brothers, Carl Dieterle, and Bud Truitt, three sister, Cheri Deaton, Letha Thompson, and Susan Cubey, one uncle, seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Robert, second wife Carol Sue Truitt and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to MAGB or TLC with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
