Funeral Services for Ronald "Ron" Lee Martin of Carmen will be 10 AM, June 13, 2011 at the Alva First Church of the Nazarene. Officiating the services will be Reverend Dave Keller of the Green Valley Free Methodist Church and Reverend Bill Kalfas of the Williams Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Carmen, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by the Wharton Funeral Chapel in Alva.
Ronald Lee, son of Justine (Martens) and Edward Lee Martin was born on March 23, 1954 in Fairview, Oklahoma. He passed away at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on the 9th day of June at the age of 57 years, 2 months and 17 days.
He attended the Fairview School System and graduated with the class of 1973; then graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1977.
On July 2, 1976 in Dacoma, Oklahoma he was married to Charlene Newlin. To their marriage three children were born, Charles L., Kent L. and Ronda L.
Following their marriage they lived in Alva and Hopeton then moved to the farm where they farmed and ranched.
Mr. Martin was a member of the Alva Church of the Nazarene and served on the church board. He was a member of the Alva, Dacoma, Carmen and Sooner Farmers Co-ops.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron is survived by his wife Charlene of the home; a daughter Ronda of Waukomis, Oklahoma; two sons and their wives, Charles and Rachel of Lovington, New Mexico and Kent and Konya of Garden City, Kansas; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, and Dakota all of Lovington, New Mexico, Katelee and Kase of Garden City, Kansas; a sister and her husband, Kandace and Delmore Wichert of Fairview, Oklahoma; his parents-in-law, Charles and Wanona Newlin of Hopeton; a nephew, two nieces, other relatives and friends.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene to repair tornado damages.
