Funeral Services for Ruth Elonor Burtscher, 92, will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Central Christian Church in Fairview, Oklahoma. The Reverend Ronnie Hopkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 29 at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Ruth was born August 25, 1919 to E.D. and Dorothy (Williams) Ruse in Robinson, Illinois and passed away on February 27, 2012 in Enid, Oklahoma.

Ruth grew up following her father from state to state as he was working in the oil industry as a driller. After Ruth moved to Oklahoma, she started working as a Phone Operator for South Western Bell Phone Company in Enid Oklahoma. Ruth married Arthur E. Burtscher May 14, 1949 in Enid Oklahoma and they made their home in Fairview. Ruth transferred to the Fairview office and continued to work there until they automated the phone switch. Ruth was one of the last operators in Fairview. She then stayed home and did volunteer work around town such as Meals On Wheel and helped out at the Fairview Fellowship Home. Arthur passed away Oct 12, 1995 and Ruth remained in their home until the last few months of her life when she moved to Enid with her son Jim. Ruth was a wonderful lady, wife and mother and was loved by all who knew her. She will be truly missed.

Ruth is survived by her son Jim and wife Barbara of Enid, Oklahoma; two grandchildren Michael Bryant and Kelley Munkres and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husbands, sister and brother and daughter-in-law preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made to the Christian Women's Fellowship (CWF) with Fairview Funeral Home Inc. acting as custodians.
