The family followed the oil boom during the era in Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Nebraska. Sherry was considered and "Oilfield Brat" in her younger years because she was brought up around the rigs. At the age of sixteen the family settled in Boulder, Colorado. Sherry was very active in school as a cheerleader and drum major. She graduated high school in Boulder in 1967.
Shortly after graduation she went to work for Braniff Airlines. When Braniff ceased operations in 1978, she went to work for American Airlines and retired in 1996. She was passionate about aviation and working with people. She received numerous merit awards for her customer service savvy.
Sherry's favorite things were traveling, country/western dancing, boating, water skiing, and of course her kids. She always put her kids first and made huge sacrifices to make their dreams a reality.
