Following his birth, he traveled with his mother Betty to Venezuela in South America, where his father Lowell was working with Dowell Chemicals. In 1959, they returned to the states to San Angelo, Texas and then to Snyder, Texas in 1961. In 1963, Betty married Clyde Sawyer and they moved to The Village in Oklahoma City. In 1975, they all moved to Fairview, Oklahoma. Terry started working in the oil industry with Fairview Casing. Later he worked for NOMAC and Chesapeake as a driller and tool pusher. He married Angie Koehn on July 1, 1998.
Terry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairview. He loved to fish and often went to Canton Lake where he enjoyed time boating.
