Memorial graveside services for Thelma Jean Schaffer, 88, of Fairview will be Wednesday, 19 August 2020 at 10:30 AM in the Ebenfield Cemetery southeast of Okeene, Oklahoma. Thelma was cremated per her request. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Thelma Jean Schaffer was born June 30th, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Raymond and Faye (Tigert) Lynn and passed peacefully from this life to the next, on Thursday July 30 th at the Fairview Fellowship Home, Fairview, Oklahoma.
Thelma grew up all over the US moving with her family from job to job, and graduated High School in Guthrie, Oklahoma. After high school, she attended Phillips University for one year. Thelma became a cosmetologist and worked most of the time in her own business. However, she was a teacher for a period of time at the Beech's Beauty College. Thelma married Ronald Haws and was blessed with five boys. Thelma was a strong lady that knew that there were only 2 ways to do something, the wrong way and her way. To raise five boys you had to be. Later in life she married David Schaffer. Dave died in 2010. Thelma was a long time member of the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church. For four years, she was a Mennonite Brethren Church Missionary to Children's Haven International, Raynosa, Mexico. She loved to Crochet and Crocheted many mats for the needy. Thelma loved the color purple and loved gardening. She also especially loved growing her African Violets. She could grow them to enormous sizes and was very proud of them. Thelma was a hard working lady with many friends and will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Thelma is survived by her sons; Kenneth Haws, Michael Haws and wife Kristy, Roger Haws and wife Sha'rrell, Philip Haws and wife Nikki and Douglas Haws and wife Terry, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, and four brothers and sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made. to the Fairview Fellowship Home with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. acting as custodian.
