Thomas Francis Patrick "Frank" Crowe, M.D. was born on March 25, 1934 in Letterfrack, County Galway, Ireland to Thomas Crowe and Grace (Ryan) Crowe. He passed suddenly and peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 3, 2015.
Frank married Elizabeth "Betty" Ashworth from Bredbury, England in 1956 and the newlyweds made their home and started a family in Dublin, Ireland. After two of their three children were born in Ireland, they decided to immigrate to the United States in 1961. They chose Oklahoma City, as close family was already there and they expanded their own growing family with the birth of their third child.
Frank worked at Western Electric when he first arrived in the United States. His family has always been proud of his dedication to working and raising three young children as he pursued his higher education at the same time.
Frank fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a medical doctor at OU School of Medicine in 1970. Known to most simply as "Doc", Frank and Betty preferred a more rural life instead of "The City" and chose to make their final home in Fairview where Doc practiced family medicine for over 35 years. He was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith and church family of St. Ann's Parish in Fairview. Frank's love of learning was a lifelong passion as he particularly enjoyed participating in an Irish language forum and he tried to learn something new every day.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Polk, of Las Vegas, Nevada, his younger son, Curtis Crowe, of Yukon, Oklahoma, his granddaughters, Danielle Polk, of Las Vegas, Nevada and Alexandra Polk of Portland, Oregon and his daughter-in-law, Carolyn Crowe of Oklahoma City. His older sister, Maureen, lives in Gravesend, England.
Doc is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his older son, Russell and both his brothers, Aidan and Brendan.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2 pm, Thursday, May 7 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Okeene, OK.
