A Celebration of Life for Tommy Dean Shaffer, 69, of Ringwood, Oklahoma, will be 1 PM, Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Central Christian Church in Fairview.   Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Tommy Dean Shaffer was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on March 10, 1951 to Gerald and Mary Ann (Frech) Shaffer and left this earth for his heavenly home on November 30, 2020, at the Share Medical Center in Alva, Oklahoma.

Tom was raised in Ringwood, Oklahoma and was a member of the State Champion Basketball team of 1969.    After graduating high school Tom attended Oklahoma State University. Eventually he and his dad, Gerald, started a construction business, Shaffer Construction.  Tom started his law enforcement career at Ringwood Police Department in 1993; he then went to be a deputy at the Major County Sheriffs office where he became Sheriff.   He was a proud member of the Oklahoma Sheriff's Association even serving as President and was named Sheriff of the Year.  Tom retired in 2007 from the sheriff's office.

Tom was a member of the Central Christian Church serving as Elder and teaching sunday school.  He loved his family and loved to rock the babies to sleep.  He was an animal lover and enjoyed the  outdoors.  Before passing he was able to ride his beloved horse Trigger.

Left to cherish his memory; his wife Mary Shaffer of the home, his sister, Linga Reninger, 3 sons, Geoff and wife Tonya Shaffer of Texas, Brent and wife Lensey Shaffer of Wagoner, Gene and wife Tracy Goodson of Fairview, four daughters, Shanna and husband John Hiscock of Washington, Diana Goodson of Elk City, Debbie Goodson of Fairview and Toni and husband Tyler Houk of Canton; 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald , Mary Ann Shaffer, and brother-in-law Rick Reninger.

Memorials can be made to the Oklahoma Sheriff's Association or the Badge of Honor Memorial Foundation  with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
