Obituary

Funeral Services for Tony Ted Taylor will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Longdale.  The Reverend Lucas White will officiate.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Tony Ted Taylor, 68, of Longdale, Oklahoma, lived a life defined by faith, family, and hard work. On October 28, 2025, he passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion.

Tony was born on January 19, 1957, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Felix Taylor and Tillie (Vargas-Garcia) Taylor. He grew up in the Shattuck area, where he developed the strong work ethic and steady character that would define his life.

After graduating high school, Tony proudly served in the United States Army from 1975 to 1978. He carried the discipline and integrity of his service into every part of his life and work.

Over the years, Tony wore many hats — and excelled at them all. He owned and operated his own restaurant, ran a mechanic shop, worked as a truck driver, and spent time on the oil rigs. No matter the job, Tony gave it his all. Whether fixing an engine or lending a hand to a neighbor, he was known for his selflessness and strong sense of responsibility.

Tony met the love of his life, Cheryl (Shirley), and they were married on January 20, 1977, in Canadian, Texas. Together, they built a home grounded in faith, family, and love that lasted a lifetime.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Tillie Taylor, and siblings Frank Taylor, Mary Hernandez, Eddie Taylor, Johnie Garcia, and Rosie Almeda.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl Taylor; siblings Joe Garcia, Jimmy Taylor, and Mike Taylor; children Steven Hurrieta, Connie Wilson, Anthony Taylor, and Rosa Taylor-Dykes. Tony's greatest joy was his family, and his legacy lives on through his children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing at Fairview Funeral Home, 221 North Main Street, Fairview, on November 1st from 9 am to 5 pm, the 2nd from 1 pm to 6 pm, and the 3rd from 9 am to 5 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Longdale.
