FUNERAL SERVICES FOR: TWYLA DARLENE (STRECKER) TERRY

Funeral Services for Twyla Darlene (Strecker) Terry, 77, will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Ringwood United Methodist Church in Ringwood, Oklahoma. The Reverend Terrill Parvin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Orion Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26th from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Twyla was born August 11, 1933 to Roy and Veta (Horn) Strecker on the family farm east of Chester, Oklahoma, the second of four children. On April 24, 2011 at St Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma, the gates of heaven opened for her to be with the Lord and reunited with the love of her life John.

She grew up on the farm and attended Seiling Schools, graduating in 1950. After graduation she married A.W. Peck. They soon had two girls, Sharon and Darla. Twyla worked at many different stores over the years as a retail clerk. On April 12, 1967 she married John Campbell Terry, Jr. , and spent 34 wonderful years together. With the marriage Twyla's family grew. Twyla lived in many different places during her life, Chester, Enid, Meno, Fairview, Ponca City, and finally in Ringwood. Twyla was baptized in the Baptist Church. She was a hard working lady all of her life, whether it was at the different stores she worked at, or raising her large, blended family. Twyla loved music, with her favorite being Country and Western. She was active in the Longdale Opry and kept gate for dance night. She spent many Sunday nights at the Longdale Gym Community Center either listening to her brother Don Strecker and his group or the Longdale Opry. She was a very loving mother and grandmother, spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Twyla was loved by everyone who knew her and will be truly missed, but will be forever in our hearts.

Twyla is survived by two daughters, Sharon Jantzen and husband Earnie, and Darla Hays, all of Ringwood; one step-son, John C. Terry III of Stillwater; four step-daughters, Peggy Pate and husband Dan of Norman, Norma Koehn and husband Earnie of Fairview, Joni and Melodie Terry both of Perry; two brothers, Don Strecker and wife Dorene of Chester, Stanley Strecker and wife Norma of Morris; one sister, Wanda Hurt of Chester; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

Memorials can be made to OMRF –Cancer Division or the Longdale Gym Association with Fairview Funeral Home Inc. as custodians of the funds.
