Vera Nightingale's Obituary
Funeral Services for Vera Nightingale, 84, of Fairview, will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church in Fairview. The Reverend Ron Ensz will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Vera was born in Morris, Manitoba, Canada, to John D, and Katherine (Loewen) Penner on October 8, 1932 and passed away December 1, 2016 in her home in Fairview, Oklahoma. Vera went to the 8 th grade then stayed at home working on the family dairy and helping raise her younger siblings.
Vera married Alvin J Nightingale on July 25, 1954 in Morris, Manitoba Canada. Now newlyweds, Alvin and Vera returned to Fairview and started a family dairy. They were blessed with five children and they all worked, helping with the dairy and farming. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite and was very active in the church. Vera was an active Sewing leader until she was in her 60s, a Sunday school teacher and served on many other committees in the church.
She is survived by; three sons, Dayton of Fairview, Darwin and wife Sandra of Jay, Oklahoma, Rendel and wife Gayla of Okeene; two daughters, Beverly and husband Gilmer Toews of Hadashville, Manitoba Canada, Darla and husband Wilbert Koehn of Fairview; 10 siblings, 12 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, husband Alvin and 11 siblings.
Memorials may be made to Humanitarian Service International with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
