Obituary

Funeral Services Vera Margrete Pharis, 86, of Fairview, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Longdale School in Longdale, Oklahoma. The Reverend Ray Schoonmaker will officiate. Burial will follow in Longdale Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 9 am to Noon and Sunday from 1 pm to 7 pm with family at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Vera Margrete Pharis was born August 24, 1925 to Alvin and Lida (Cravens) Martin and passed away August 12, 2012 in Woodward, Oklahoma.

Vera attended Longdale school and married Granville G.I. Pharis on November 28, 1945. They lived in Wichita for a while where Vera worked as an elevator attendant. They later moved to Garden Grove California where they lived until G.I. retired, and then they returned to Longdale. After G.I. passed away, Vera moved to Fairview until she moved to Providence Place (Assisted Living) in Woodward, Oklahoma where she was closer to her son Don. Vera loved dancing, sewing, social functions, fishing and watching sports. She especially liked the sports that her children or grandchildren were in. Vera took great pride in being a good mother and homemaker and she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four sons Don and Joyce Pharis of Oklahoma; Steve Pharis of California; Archey and Cathy Pharis of California; Les and Connie Pharis of California; Daughter in law Rita Pharis; of California 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; three sisters Pearl Schafer of Fairview, Oklahoma; Alice Parent of Wichita, Kansas; and Mary Ann Steidley of Selling, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Granville; son Terry; sister Rachel Grabow; three brothers, Bill Martin, Marvin Martin, and Lavern Martin.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Longdale Gym Association, Longdale Community Church, or the charity of their choice with Fairview Funeral Home Inc acting as custodians of the funds.
