Verla Berniece Dickey Long was born on January 5, 1929 in Lenore, Oklahoma, to Lynn and Lillie Dickey and a the age of 86, went to be with her Lord on February 15, 2015.
Verla was raised and educated in the Canton area. She married the love of her life, Max Long, on August 24, 1957. The family moved from Enid, Oklahoma to Pampa, Texas in 1968 where Verla co-owned and operated L&R Beauty Shop. Max and Verla retired to Cleo Springs, Oklahoma in 1994 where they lived until March, 2013 when they returned to Enid.
Verla enjoyed her life most when she was surrounded by the people she loved. She was the one to call if you needed cheering up, or if you just needed to know someone was in your corner. She spent countless hours with her grandchildren baking chocolate chip cookies, playing cards and getting manicures. She was optimistic, could be a little stubborn, but loved you enough to be honest with you whether you wanted to hear it or not. Verla was an extremely generous woman, donating to any charity or person she felt needed her help.
Verla Long was an amazing woman who will be missed tremendously by those who knew and loved her. It is a great comfort to her family to know that she is now, and will forever be, with her "Sweetie", Max.
She is survived by her children, Ken Laye Long (Mitzi) of Weatherford, Texas, Linda Taylor (Jeff) of Enid, Oklahoma, Tammy Qualls (Steve) of Roundrock, Texas and Tim long (Julie) of Owasso, Oklahoma and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verla was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Max, her parents, her brother Kenneth Dickey, and three grandsons.
