Funeral Services for Viola Nora Kunkel, age 87, will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Parker Chapel Christian Union Church, Ames, followed by burial in Glennwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viola Nora Kunkel was born April 8, 1923 in Ringwood, Oklahoma to Jake P. and Elizabeth (Eck) Buller and passed away June 18, 2010 at her home in Ames, Oklahoma.

Viola attended school at a country school between Ringwood and Cleo Springs. After school, she worked at Hayes Café in Shattuck, Oklahoma. Viola married Lawrence Kunkel on May 5, 1953 in Raton, New Mexico. For the next several years, she spent her time being a wife and mother to her very large family. She was a member of the Parker Chapel Christian Union Church in Ames, Oklahoma. Viola loved to embroidery and made quilts for her children and grandchildren. She loved being with her family. Viola was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will truly be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her four sons, Charles Kunkel and wife Debra of Meno, Bruce Kunkel and wife Bonnie of Enid, Jim Butler and wife Sanda of Enid, Robert Kunkel and wife Beverly of Ames; two daughters, Martha McZegle of Ames and Dorothy Tucker of Fairview; one brother, Jerry Buller of Arnett, Oklahoma; one sister, Rosa Lee Valentine of Shattuck; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband; six sisters and one great-great-grandchild.
