Virgil Wilbur Moore made his entrance into this world on November 19, 1915 at the Moore Family home in Dane, Oklahoma in Major County. He was the third child born to Dennis Levi and Martha Ellen Kile Moore. Wilbur attended Dane Country School and finished his education, graduating from Fairview High School.
As a young man, Wilbur's first job was at the Golden Crust Bakery in Alva and Fairview from 1934 to1941. He answered his country's call by joining the Army Air Corps where he worked as a mechanic on airplane gliders. While there he achieved the rank of Buck Sargent and received a medal for being Top Shooter in his division. After being discharged, Wilbur moved back home where he farmed and took care of his mom and dad.
Wilbur knew Leona Archer for many years and on October 2, 1971 the two were joined in Holy Matrimony by his brother, Melvin Moore.
Wilbur loved the Lord with all his heart and was faithful in his attendance at church. He also enjoyed singing God's praises as part of the choir and teaching Sunday School.
Wilbur was known by many names: Virgil, Uncle Wilbur, Grandpa, G-G-Pa, G-G and Sparky! Whatever the name, there was only one Wilbur and he was so loved by his family!
He is survived by two sisters; Wilma Voth and Wanda Baxter; two brothers, Willard Moore and his wife Darlene, Willis Moore and his wife Shelby; nine grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, five sisters and his sweetheart Leona Moore.
