Walter Lee Lamar's Obituary
The family of Walter Lee Lamar, 70 of Isabella will be having a come and go lunch for family and friends at Nazarene Church in Isabella, on Saturday, 5 November 2011, from Noon to 2 pm. Walter was cremated per his request. Walter passed away Monday, 31 October 2011 at the Fairview Regional Medical Center. Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Walter was born July 10, 1941 in Cyril Oklahoma to Floyd "F.E." and Opal (Moser) Lamar and died October 31, 2011 at Fairview Oklahoma. He grew up in the Lawton area graduating from Sterling High School in 1958. After graduation he attended Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma for two years, finishing with a BS degree in Soil Science at Oklahoma State University in 1962.
Walter's first job was County Agent in Greenville, Texas. Later he worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Grand Junction, Colorado and Kingsville, Texas. He moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma in 1966 to work for the Soil Conservation Service. In 1969, he was promoted to District Conservationist in Okeene, Oklahoma, and later moved to Fairview, Oklahoma as a Conservationist where he retired in 1996.
Walter married Joy Mantooth on August 18, 1961. They were blessed with four children; Timothy, Andrea, Bryan and Adrian. Later Andrea had two children, Christian and Alexander Martinez and Adrian and Debbie had Calley, Stephen, and Mathew.
After retiring in 1996, he bought a home in Isabella, Oklahoma. He raised horses and had a breeding program with Hancock bloodlines, then added Driftwood breeding. He was a team roper and farriers for 20 years. Walter had a small leather business; he enjoyed farming, raising cattle and chickens.
After 15 years and several surgeries for Larynx Cancer, Walter passed away on October 31, 2001 in the Fairview Regional Medical Center.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving him is his wife Joy of 50 years, four children; Timothy, Andrea, Bryan and Adrian. He is also survived by his brothers Everett and wife Pat, R.B. and wife Maria, and sister Linda and Husband Larry Coleman, as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews.
