Obituary

Funeral Services for William Eugene "Gene" Wells, 67, of Fairview, will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Fairview. The Reverend David Mendenhall will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Gene Wells was born October 4, 1943 to William F. and Mamie D.(Kamm) Wells in Sickles, Oklahoma and passed away September 12, 2011 at Colonial Estates Nursing Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Viewing will be Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. and at the church prior to the service.

Gene grew up around Lookeba-Sickles and graduated from Sickles High School in 1961. Not long after graduation on August 4, 1961 he married Doris Fletcher. They lived in Oklahoma City where and were blessed with two children, Ric and Lisa. Later they moved to Hydro, Oklahoma where he worked for Buckmaster Ford.

In 1976 Gene married Earlene Zahorsky and they lived in Fairview, Oklahoma. Gene worked for Howard Way Chevrolet and later Pete Eischen Chevrolet as the parts manager until his death. Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Earlene spent many hours together mowing and planting flowers and keeping a perfectly groomed yard for the neighbors to see and enjoy.

He is survived by four children and nine grandchildren: one son, Steve and Debbie Zahorsky of Flower Mound TX, and their children Kyle Zahorsky and Taylor Forester; three daughters, Pam and Doug Sells of Shawnee, Oklahoma and their children, Chad Metcalf, Jennifer Scott, Rob Sells, and Jennifer and Mark Unruh; Debbie and Bailey Scott of Shawnee, Oklahoma and their children Abigail Scott and Alexandria Scott; Lisa Gracey of Norman, Oklahoma and her daughter Monica Gracey; four great-grandchildren, Brace Unruh, Braylee Unruh, Jayce Metcalf and Laynee Metcalf. He is also survived by one brother, Walter L. Wells and wife Georgia of Binger, Oklahoma and one sister Emma Lou Maddux of Lookebabe, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and son Ric Wells.

Memorial contributions may be made to the OMRF-Cancer Division with Fairview Funeral Home Inc acting as custodians of the funds.
