William "Bill" Richard Bookout was born November 12, 1928 in Paris, Arkansas to Samuel Lee and Melinda Evelyn (Ingram) Bookout and passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

As a boy, Bill moved around with his family, growing up in Arkansas. During WWII, he enlisted in the United States Army and made it all the way to Italy before the Army found out he was only 15, and sent him home. Bill reenlisted in the Army in 1947, during this time he was in Korea. He was honorably discharged in January of 1950. For the next year he worked with his father at Parker Construction Company until January of 1951 when he returned to the US Army. During this time he served most of his time in Japan. Then in December 1953 he was once again honorably discharged and returned to his home in Arkansas.

Bill became a cross country truck driver and spent his life on the road from coast to coast. He loved this life because he enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people. In 1994, Bill retired from trucking and moved to Fairview with his children, William and Julie. Bill took on a new challenge of being a father and raising his children. Bill enjoyed fishing, camping and target practice. He was also known for chasing younger women, but never had much luck catching them! He was a strong hardworking man that was loved by those who knew him and will be missed.

Bill is survived by one son, William Bookout of the home, one daughter Julie Bookout of Yukon, Okla.; one sister, Janetta Wormock of Spiro, Okla.; one brother Paul Bookout of Tulsa, Okla.; along with other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. acting as custodian.
